Went down on Fwy

Hey Guys,

So, last week on my way to work around 6;30a the unfortunate thing happened - dropped my bike as I went down. Heading up the local fwy (405 LA area) and splitting lanes at about 45-50 mph the front tire slipped in the yellow lane and it was too quick for me to recover so I went down as well.
Luckily the car behind me and next to me stopped and I had all me gear on, minus the pants, so my knees are f'd up, but not broken (had jeans on).

The bike runs but there is a small whining noise when I hit the gas - i will have it checked out once I'm back to 100%, still recovering from road rash but I'm hoping to be good and back on my bike by this weekend or next.

I believe my gear did it's job in protecting me, as I rolled about 4-5 times on the asphalt - very unforgiving!
Helmet - HJC full faced.
Gloves - AS SP-2000
Jacket - Joe rocket.
Jeans - Levi's 505; they look more fashionable now with holes and tears.

Now, i'm pissed about my bike..here are some pics. Won't post pics of my knees as they're nasty, but I'm hoping to replace the scratched parts but I can't find them online. Do you guys know where I can buy them? see pics.

Be careful, wear your gear and be safe guys! I'm glad that that's all that happened to me as it could've been much worse.

Thanks,
McFly.

I'm glad you're OK and you wore protection although no protection for your investment (Bike) frame sliders/fork protectors may have saved some of that damage since you were'nt really moving that fast btw what the **** do they paint the lines with out there on the Left coast to be that slippery? I'm not going to get into splittin lanes at 50 mph thats on you.. I here the 405 is a bitch during the rush speedy recovery!

****, glad you are ok. Yup those painted lines are slippery. I think its the thickness of the paint that makes it slippery. You can't feel the asphalt through the paint.

Did you have the stock tires? They are reputed to be not-so-sticky, and from my experience, I can attest to that. Good luck with the recovery of body and machine.

Remember to ride Like NOBODY SEES YOU best advice I can give. Not to scare you, but be proactive never think you have the right of way and idiots in cars SEE YOU even if they do see you they don't..Keep your Eyes WIDE OPEN!

Sorry to hear and get well soon.

Reminder to myself.
1. Avoid painted road.
2. Metal manhole.
3. Long metal stripe that sometime at bridge.
4. Knees

Avoid completely or don't make sudden turn when on them.

Been riding for about 20yrs...sh*t happens in a split second, so try to get some practice before you hop in the fwy. like Jadar671, pretend that no one sees you and always keep your eyes on the down. Wear all your gear, even if you're just going a few blocks. People really don't see you and are more worried about their freaking txt messages than driving.

Be careful and ride safe.
