The end of my Z650 Adventure

The z650 was my first street bike. And first bike i've ridden at all besides the msf in probably a bit over 5 years and even then my dirtbiking adventures were few and far between. I think it is a very good first bike and still quite capable bike. But this is most likely going to be the end of my journey with it.

As you can see it is pretty messed up and most likely going to be totaled. I hit a dirt mound at probably 50mph or so trying to avoid an oncoming car after making the noob mistake of going wide.The oncoming car was way too close to save it and it wasn't worth the risk trying to save it so I went into the dirt but I didn't realize it was a solid hill it just looked like tall brush at the time. Fortunately that one piece I always wear took all the damage and saved me from a broken shoulder and arm. I have a sore back and a hurt tongue from biting down on it during the crash but otherwise unharmed.

As you can see I had a fun time in the 7 months I owned it and learned quite a bit on it. First bike down we will see what I decide to get next.

Sorry to hear what happened to you and the bike. Lucky you no real bodily harm done.

I went wide on a decreasing radius corners a few times initially with the z650. What I did just stand up the bike and slam the brake hehe. Mine has ABS so no issues of locking the tires.

When taking corners aggressively (In my case aggressive probably is mild to other people hehe) ;
1. Make sure at least initially have your head a bit on the side of the bike into the direction of the corner and bent the elbow a bit.
2. If you feel lean angle not enough and it seems you are going wide, bent the elbow more pointing it downward and at the same time push the handle for more counter steering.
3. Items 2 should naturally lower your head, shoulder and body into the corner.
4. Putting out your knees will come naturally. I am not a speed demon at corner where I need to slide half my ass off the seat.
5. Maintain throttle. If you reduce throttle too quickly the bike tend to stand up and you go wide.

The z650 probably can handle most corners. I think the ABS version of z650 is one of the safest motorcycles.

Ouch. Most important part though, you walked away. Always good to be able to ride another day.
