Pulling FI engine light codes

I’ve searched and can’t really find a definitive answer. Is there a way for me to show what codes a 2017 Z650 is showing without having to go to a dealer or hook up to the diagnostics port in the tail of the bike? Just got one for my girlfriend and fixed the previous owner’s sketchy suspension mods and after the first ride the engine engine light came on. Thanks!

So I did more research and found the answer to this on a ninja400 board. Push the left button on the display panel until your odometer is what’s displayed - you don’t want trip meters. Once your total odometer mileage is displayed press both the left and right buttons at the same time for about three seconds until the odometer reading changes to the two digit FI error code or codes (it will cycle through them lowest to highest of your bike has multiple) that your bike is observing/storing. Do these steps with the key in the on position but the bike not running. In my case I’m getting error code “33” which is an o2 sensor issue.

I just tried it on my 2018 z650 and when you press both buttons for 3 seconds, it scrolls through the different tac dials. it doesn't show any codes.

If it scrolls through tac modes then you donít have any codes...cause now that I fixed my code o2 code thatís how the bike acts when I hold both buttons down. If you have codes it WILL show them...if not, you get tac settings.

Guys...if your fi/engine light isn’t on that means it’s not going to show codes.
