Too bad the cost alone might entirely discourage some people but being a bike most would keep for at least a few seasons I can imagine a good portion of buyers here getting it. Maybe its time we get a poll going on this :D

I love the way they have the sound setup on the website. Definitely sounds a heck of a lot better than stock but hey, what else do you expect from Akra right?
Price, an arm and a leg but i would give up either one for an akra system any day as im sure most would, its worth it. there's little negotiating between it and anything else.

Kawasaki is also selling an Akro branded exhaust as an official accessory, which may not have as offensive sound level.
Good mention since odds are it was designed along with the engine or whatever refinements were made with the engine before prodcution. If true that will go a long way for creating the ideal sound, something not as possible to create when the system is designed after the fact.

That is also a great looking pipe. When you get it, let us know if there is a db killer included. The official Kawasaki accessory Akro pipe has 2 small outlets showing at rear, in the UK it is part of a special package for their "Z650 Performance " model, maybe European accessory only. I am thinking it may be a bit quieter to meet their Euro 4 requirements. You can see it at kawasaki.co.uk

Now, after looking at the schematic, it looks like the only difference between this pipe and the Kawasaki Performance Akro is the outlet, which is apparently the db killer/noise filter. According to their claims, it is very similar in performance gains to the Yoshimura, and of course, every bike and every dyno is different.

Are you going to do a pre install dyno? Curious to see the actual gains, and what your bike starts at. We need this info!

I just looked at Akrapovics specs. It is almost identical to the Yoshimura. I wonder how well the off brand exhausts will perform? We know Akra and Yosh put the time in to put out a quality product.

I'm going to the speed shop on Monday to schedule dyno time and the install. As long as it's not a small fortune I'll do before and after.

Not sure what is considered an "off-brand" nowadays. Many large companies that have been around a long time may not be a household name in the States. European brands like IXIL, Arrow, Mivv, Leo Vinci, and Scorpion, as well as Staintune from Australia all have long histories and the resources to build a decent system, some may just not be available here, yet, for our Z650. And I'll bet Vance & Hines and Two Brothers Racing are working on one.

Off-brands like Delkevic, the knock-offs that always seem to show up... the name eludes me, but there was a manufacturer floating around that was making cheap header pipes for the ER6's that turned out to be fairly decent. Those type of exhausts and manufacturers.

Just installed the akrapovic exhaust last night. It sounds amazing and the power gains are definitely notieable. Be prepared for an epic battle to get the db killer out. There is a bolt that holds it in that is spot welded in place. Took me 2.0 hours to get the **** thing out and I destroyed it in the process!

any news?

I was curious if anyone with an Akrapovic exhaust can give some advice. Just purchased a Z650 and wanting to get an exhaust for it. Is there a difference in loudness between the two Akrapovic exhausts? I am wanting a little louder than stock but not crazy loud.
