For a while I’ve been noticing some stains on my garage floor all the while swearing to myself that it used to be squeaky clean with my last bike. Bought my Z650 brand new in February and I’ve currently got 2300km (1430miles) on the odometer.
Yesterday when I got back from a Sunday drive I strolled around the bike for a close inspection for a few minutes and found some drips right under the engine on the left side. A little forward from the kick stand. It had not rained so it couldn’t have been water. Quick touch and it was plain and clearly engine oil.

First picture is the ground drip stains.
Second picture is my first inspection I found the under side to be somewhat oily.
Third picture is a funny angle. Camera on the ground facing upwards towards the engine belly, left side biased you can see the screws for the oil draining procedure.
Forth picture is the oil level. I checked it a few times just to be sure, being attentive to level the bike properly and indeed I still have at least more than half the recommended level. So I don’t believe any harm has occurred yet.

Has anybody had a similar issues?
I feel like this shouldn’t be happening so I took it back to kawasaki for them to take a look.

Just got a response.
Faulty gasket on the left side of the engine. They're switching it out free of charge.

Still curious if this is a recurring problem or a one off..
Anybody else have this happen with their bike?

Never happened. The only oil I see on the ground is the chain lube up to a few days after a cleaning. So has it been repaired and if so, how long did it take?

Hey czrlaker! Didn't take too long.
They would've switched it out in a day if they had the gasket in stock, but they had to order it in from the warehouse in another shop. 2 days and it was done.
Can't complain. Problem seems fixed.

Take it easy!

Good to hear. I guess it depends on the dealer you go to. My buddy has a z125 and had an engine problem that needed replacing of a part. bike was in the shop for about 4 months. Glad it was different in your situation.
