Just did my first oil and filter change on Saturday at the 1000km mark. It's a relatively easy job for anyone interested in doing it themselves. Just need a size 17 socket for the drain plug.I am used to changing oil on bikes and my cars and the one constant headache is removing the oil filter. I have the chain style removal tool but it seldom works, usually I just end up using the screwdriver method. Bash a hole through the filter and lever it off. Messy but effective!
I decided to go with Shell advance 4t semi synthetic oil. First time using this oil, will see how it goes. Bike took just under 2l of oil with the level sitting exactly at the uppermost level. Interestingly, the oil wasn't very dirty at all with very little visible metal shavings.

I heard it's best to use mineral oil for first oil change, synthetic oils are best used after a few thousands miles

I love the fact that you managed to get a picture of the Odo at exactly 1000km! My Z has also just had it's first service though i took mine into the dealer having never learnt nor attempted to do these things myself.
As luck would have it, I just glanced at the speedo as I was pulling into town after my ride and it was on 999km :).

I didn't know that, the oil is semi synthetic, hope it's not going to cause any issues?

I heard it's best to use mineral oil when engine is not fully break in, which could take a few thousands miles

I wouldn't worry about it though
Thanks, from what I understand semi synthetic will prolong the break in period slightly as you say. I ride like a granny most of the time so it's all good!
