As many may know, the Z650 is a great bike for short people, but might be slightly uncomfortable for tall riders. I'm 6ft2in (193cm) and the Z650 was my first choice, I absolutely love it after a few months of riding but I was waiting since the beginning for a higher seat. On longer rides, I felt a little bit cramped on the stock seat, especially with the thicker riding pants and higher boots...

Here in Germany, the higher seat is finally available on the Kawasaki website and my dealership had one in stock. I tested it, and thought I would share it with you to show a more detailed view and give my impressions.

The new seat is 30mm higher and provides a more comfortable position, less cramped and for me, better handling.

I like the materials of the new higher seat, they look great and have a more premium look.

I hope this can help some of you who are looking for this or are considering getting it. I had a quick look on the US website of Kawasaki and it's not listed in the accessories at the moment - I hope it will!

Don't hesitate to leave any questions in the comment section of the video! :)

Wow. Thank you very much for this info. I am 6 foot, not as tall as you but I think this would be great. Looks like it has more padding and will keep my testies from getting numb or at least feeling all the vibrations from the bike.

That's a nice looking seat. It's nice to see that there is an option for taller riders. I totally see the difference it made for you with the swap. Do you find the new seat the same firmness?

I just got the "ergo fit" seat today. I'm 5'8" (173cm) with an inseam of 30" (76cm)... so I'm not that tall. I can still put my feet down on the ground fine, my legs are just now right in front of the foot pegs when I have them down. Pushing the bike backwards is a little harder because I have to use my toes and it was much easier to back up on the old seat but thats the only thing I like more about the stock seat. I also feel like the tall seat gives me better handling because my legs now fit better with the tank allowing me to hug it with my knees easier. It also does look much better and the white stitching looks nice with the black color of the bike. Its still firm but there is more padding... I'll ride for a longer time tomorrow to see if I get less fatigue. I weigh 145lbs (66kg). One downside with the ergo fit seat is that I feel the vibrations through the tank more now.

After riding 100 miles yesterday I take back the comment on not being able to back the bike up as easily. Anyone my height or taller shouldn't have any problems... I just had to get used to how the seat felt. Its a big improvement on how I feel riding the bike. Even though it has more padding, fatigue in my rear still is about the same. I think its because it doesn't allow you really shift around much.
