Hi everyone, I'm Laura, from Nova Scotia, Canada! New to the Z nation with my 2021 Z650 as of April! This is my third bike, but my first brand new bike, and I've been working on making her my own with various mods.

Mods so far:
  • Radiator guard (link)
  • RhinoMoto bar ends (link)
  • Cheap bar-end mirrors from eBay (soon replacing with these)
  • Cheap shorty levers from eBay
  • Puig tank pad (link)
  • Eazi-Grip pro tank grips (link, opted for the clear ones, but don't really like how they look, so will soon replace them with the clear paint protection film instead)
  • Oxford heated grips (link)
  • OES frame sliders, fork sliders, and swing arm spools (link)
  • TST Elite-1 Standard fender eliminator (link)
  • TST plate light (link)
  • TST smoked integrated tail light (link)
  • TST front turn signals (link)
  • TST relay flasher (link)
Mods to do:
  • Waiting for my Evotech passenger peg delete kit to come in the mail (link)
  • Waiting for my Two Brothers S1R full system to come in the mail (link)
  • I'll likely mail in my ECU to 2 Wheel DynoWorks over the winter (link)
  • Once my chain/sprockets need replacing, will likely change gear ratio for more bottom end speed
I'm absolutely loving this machine, super comfortable and smooth handling. I've put on about 1750km (1090mi) since April despite it hovering around 13°C (55°F) here in Nova Scotia. Can't wait for warmer weather and more riding!

Hi Laura,

How's it going? Love all the addons you did to your bike. Looks really good.

Was is easy to remove the front turning signals and also finding the oem relay flasher?

I also wanted to get the TST Industries MECH-GTR Front Turn Signals and the TST Relay Flasher too but still researching on how to remove and find where everything is because the TST Industries youtube tutorial doesn't have it for the 2021 Z650 yet. By any chance you toke any step-by-step pics?

Thanks

If they haven't moved the flasher relay, it's under the tank towards the front. Kawi signals are easy to remove. You unscrew a back plate, then just bend and pull the signals out.

Btw, if you accidentally knock off something that looks like a relay in the process, make sure you reinstall it the right way up (there's an "up" with an arrow). There's a tip over sensor near the flasher relay; if you install it upside down (yes, I did this), the bike won't start.

Hi Mikey, thanks so much!

The turn signals were pretty easy actually, I used this video straight from TST. I know he's working on the 2019 or below, but it was the same on my 2021. I didn't have to remove the headlight either, if that's helpful!

I did have a hard time with the relay flasher only because I couldn't for the life of me find anything for the 2020+ model, and was looking in the wrong spot. But I just found this post on Reddit which shows exactly where the relay is on the 2020+. it was super simple to change once I knew where it was, haha!

Good luck!
