New 2017 owner in Nor Cal. I've only put 100 miles or so on my bike, it already has 10,000 miles on it.
Upon inspection, I found an oil leak.
My oil level is good, and the leak looks old but I would like to remedy the leak.
I'm thinking it's the shift shaft seal, which has a plethora of YouTube video repair tutorials.
I dropped my bike in the driveway at 0mph. I'm a brand new rider.
I have also noticed that when I start the bike, the shifter is stuck in 2nd gear.
I'm really good with tools. I'm an electrician but trade.
Any insight or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.
I am getting an error message when I try to upload images.

Picture of oil leak please.

Tipped over and bent shifter on the LHS sounds normal. Could have whacked the clutch and perch/cable out of adjustment as well.

I'm not saying this to be a jerk, but you need to take it to someone that knows what they are doing. Dish out some $$ and get it fixed to the point of being safe. Shouldn't take more than an hour + parts cost (you probably need a new shift lever).

Tradeswomen and tradesman tend to have an excellent mechanical aptitude. But you need to trust your bike first. Worry about learning/fixing later.

Chain lube, slung from the front sprocket, can make that area of the bike wet with the stuff, mimicing an oil leak.
