Kawabanga,
This is my second bike I have owned in my life time. First one was a 2005 Vulcan 800 (Loved it) but had to sell it when I went through a divorce. I just purchased the Z650 in late August. Prior to that I had researched and test driven several bikes. I had narrowed it down to the Yamaha FZ-07 and z650. To be honest with you, either bike is solid. You can't really go wrong with Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki. To me it came down to a couple of different things. 1) Comfort- the Kawasaki to me is ergonomically just feels better. More upright position, and I felt more in control. 2) Extremely nimble, smooth ride, great torque. 3) Price was very reasonable (to me the best bang for the buck). I only have 1000 miles on the bike, no issues, no maintenance (except oil change). Bike is solid (no shakes, rattles). You can't go wrong with this Bike!
