Vibration/Rattle from front fork or instrument cluster

Hey all,

I have 150 miles on my Z now, and just recently a new rattle sound appeared which makes itself apparent starting around 4K rpms. I can hear it riding down the road with my helmet on. It sounds like it’s coming from the top tank/front fork/ or instrument cluster. Any idea what that could be or has anyone else experienced this?

On that note , I did noticed that the instrument cluster does appear to have a little movement or play in it, I checked all the bolts around it and all appear right.

Good question but nope that’s what I thought first too, my moto key just simply has a single ring on it, I held it down with pressure...sound was still present.

It could be any one of the small plastic trim pieces on the front of the bike. There are quite a few, and they are mostly held in place by plastic retainer pins. It could also be part of the light harness or connector buzzing against the frame.

Curious if you determines what exactly it was? I am going to check the cluster and any fasteners to make sure everything is tight but just started happening to me at 180 miles on it and it really bothers me.

I have the same problem with my Z650; a buzz that I can hear at 4,000 RPM only. How did you go with your bike?
